Today I was very lonely,
as I thought again of someone I had met.
Always being a true friend,
and someone my heart shall never forget.
A great sense of humor,
packaged into such a petite little frame.
Ever since I first met her,
my life has never been quite the same.
Days spent on the phone,
both of us laughing until we have cried.
Other days we just listen,
when there are worries we cannot hide.
Those days we can talk,
my heart feels the love from this friend.
I know it will be forever,
and will stay there beside me to the end.
I cherish days of laughter,
and others filled with tears and concern.
Every time we talk together,
there are things we discover and learn.
Never talking down to me,
she tries to erase any doubts in my mind.
I couldn’t ask for more love,
from a friend so honest, faithful and kind.
People come into our life,
always nearby and will be there forever.
While others move on fast,
leaving at the first sign of foul weather.
The lesson of this poem,
is not one which will ever become old.
Treasure all of your friends,
they are truly worth more than any gold.
If someone enters your life,
and their heart is full of love and peace.
Be grateful and give thanks,
if the friend is like my sweet Anneliese.
