Shades Of Gray
Shades of gray envelope me,
and sometimes they just will not let me be.
Thoughts persist of my release,
to finally know the comfort of needed peace.

Needing days of not being blue,
to rest assured inside I can make it through.
Clear any doubts in my head,
falling soundly asleep every night in my bed.

Wake up feeling really good,
maybe taking a stroll in the neighborhood.
Feeling fresh air upon my face,
while morning winds down to a slower pace.

Shades of gray fill the skies too,
the weather forecast saying rain is overdue.
Winter is now approaching fast,
shorter and cold days, either rain or overcast.

Fall has taken her seasonal bow,
streets of leaves seem melancholy somehow.
Soon holidays lights will appear,
bringing thoughts of families filled with cheer.

Knowing soon the snow will fall,
recalling past winters and the beauty of it all.
When shades of gray turn white,
snow glistens on the ground in the moonlight.

Days for hot chocolate are here,
any gloomy thoughts will completely disappear.
Knowing on a cold wintery night,
is always the perfect time to snuggle up tight.

Get up early and build a snowman,
enjoying the serenity as the snow starts again.
Throw some logs in the fireplace,
shades of gray of morning have now been erased.

Loving thoughts then turn to you,
and the beautiful winters we have been through.
Assuring me things will be alright,
when all the shades of gray fade into the night.
