I wanted to have a party and to celebrate,
happy times for friends I wanted to create.
I started making a list, so that I could see,
exactly how many friends there would be.
Telling my husband was a huge mistake,
listening to my plans, he started to shake.
“Honey, how many friends will be here?”
“Just a couple, you have nothing to fear.”
I knew Anneliese would want to be there,
Sally and Joan, asking to help me prepare.
Ruby said she would stop by in Arkansas,
giving Poshie a ride and not break the law.
Eddie and Christine flying over the ocean,
Angelina was happy with a lot of emotion.
Sharon in Virginia was a real good choice,
offering to fly to New York, for our Joyce.
Andrea, should be arriving from Kentucky,
Doris and Carol from Texas if I was lucky.
MarieJoy taking care of Pam, Jill and Dee,
my list of friends to invite growing rapidly.
Sam is my best friend in Arizona I know,
Carolyn, Adelle and Marian would show.
Let’s see there is still Francine and Anne,
the party was growing all across the land.
Corky, Renee, Susie, Betty and Jade too,
as friends were added my party list grew.
Cynthia, Jill, and what about my pal Mac,
calculating again because I had lost track.
Glancing at the list, to count how many,
this friends list going up beyond twenty.
I wasn’t sure now, just what I should do,
how could I ever invite only one or two.
Finally showed my honey my friends list,
he looked, “Is there anyone you missed?”
“Call all of your sweet friends right away,
a party of this size there can be no delay.”
I got on my telephone calling right away,
hoping friends would remember this day.
“Let’s have a party”, was heard from me,
a terrific time had by all, I will guarantee.
Called the caterer and all plans were made,
using a credit card the bills were soon paid.
I soon held the biggest party of the century,
close to friends, who meant so much to me.
