Turning Of The Key

I listen closely for a sound once more,
a wonderful sound I have heard before.
The sounds from the turning of the key,
a signal you have returned safely to me.

To glance again up at your smiling face,
Everyday the sight makes my heart race.
Years seemingly pass by so quickly now,
lines present across your furrowed brow.

You are lost in your thoughts of the day,
I’m happy knowing you are home to stay.
Sitting alone for the day thinking of you,
wondering if you are thinking of me too.

Sharing together how our day was spent,
breathing in once more your manly scent.
Our hands reaching very slowly to touch,
conveying a love which means so much.

A quiet evening being embraced tenderly,
the wonder of this love deep inside of me.
Eyes for a moment exchange loving looks,
ones always written about in poetry books.

Comfort in hearing the turning of the key,
for my love walks through the door to me.
Thank you darling, for always being there,
for asking one fine day your love to share.

Constantly I will remain here by your side,
happy each day I became your loving bride.
I know we understand one thing for certain,
we shall stay together until the final curtain.
