Code Blue

I see many people running around,
What they are requiring not found.
I hear them yelling out two words,
Code blue, the only words I heard.

Nurses surrounding a hospital bed,
No view until they move their head.
Abruptly it clears and it is me there,
Lying still while silence fills the air.

A monitor shows a straight flat line,
I know this is not a very good sign.
Wondering what is happening now,
I watch a young man wipe his brow.

Two paddles are placed in his hand,
Moving as near to my bed as he can.
Then only one word from him I hear,
With a steady voice he said, "Clear"

One paddle is put on my left breast,
Another is on the right of my chest.
I watch my body going up in the air,
Looking at a monitor, nothing there.

What is the scene played out for me?
Is it the future I am suppose to see?
Again the paddles are put into place,
Worry etched on every nurse's face.

Slowly this lone monitor will show,
Some movement but it is very slow.
Everyone sighing with total delight,
For a life they save again this night.

Daily, I always thank God as I pray,
He spared my life again on this day.
I know now I made medical history,
Why, is God’s will, no real mystery.
