There is a day I will
never be able to forget, One fateful day
which had me in a cold sweat. You came home
from work early that day, Later I found out I
was going to need to pray.
Sitting down
on the couch, pale as could be, How very sick
you were at first I did not see. You said you
needed to go lay down on the bed, Words which
suddenly filled my heart with dread.
I
came into the bedroom sitting by your
side, Trying the very best I could my fear to
hide. Taking your hand I pressed on your
fingernail, No return of blood, it was
completely pale.
Learning long ago from
my Mother what to do, I hurried to the
telephone to call 911 for you. Within five
minutes an ambulance had arrived, Alone at
the hospital I prayed for you to
survive.
I had to leave you to go home
and call our son, Once inside the car I came
completely undone. Crying so hard I could not
even see, Begging out loud in prayer, “Oh
God, please don’t let this be.”
Half your
blood gone and placed in intensive
care, Skilled doctors and nurses were right
there. It was hard after visiting time to go
home alone, After a week though you finally
came home.
Honey, that day so long ago
when I almost lost you, I am still so
grateful you were able to pull through. Every
day I thank God with a very special
prayer, Knowing when I reach out you are
always right there.
