Skate Palace, how
do I explain a place like this, Another
wonderful time for the three of us to just
reminisce. When you were thirteen you ask
your Dad and I, If we thought it would be ok
for you to give karate a try.
You were
growing so fast, at the time, and had really big
feet, Getting up the stairs without stumbling
was hard for you to complete. We told you we
were sorry we didn’t think you were
ready, And suggested you try something to
help you learn to be steady.
Your face
fell and you said, “Well, what can I
do?”, “Why don’t you try skating that should
do the trick for you.” You grumbled and
mumbled and said you would give it a try, But
you made sure we both knew you didn’t understand
why.
So, off to Skate Palace on Friday
nights you would go, We both had to leave and
could not stay to watch you though. You kept
going every Friday night, not missing a
one, We had absolutely no idea of just how
well you had done.
Your Dad and I snuck
into Skate Palace late one night, And there
out on the skate floor was such a wonderful
sight. You, our once clumsy, son moving so
fast around the rink, Skating to the music
with both of your feet in perfect
sync.
We were so proud and quietly snuck
back out the front door, Because of your
plea, which we had promised before. Both of
us were so completely in awe of you on that
night, You were not only doing what we had
ask of you but doing it right.
We also
knew when you ask us to let you try karate
again, This time you would be ready and any
argument you would win. Over time you became
a great skater, something you can not
deny, Thanks again son for listening to us
and giving skating a try.
