Today I decided to go to a different place to have lunch,
Far away from all the crowds and the usual rowdy bunch.
There is someone I have been longing for so long to see,
A softhearted and gentle woman I refer to as my Granny.
When I arrived in heaven Granny was there by the gate,
She said, "Hurry up, you know we don’t want to be late."
I looked around and I could not believe what I could see,
So much food was everywhere spread out in front of me.
Granny said, "Don’t worry child, it is completely free,
There is never a price in heaven for anything you see."
"Get yourself a plate and put everything you want on it,
We will go over and sit under that shade tree for a bit."
"Be sure on the table right over there when you go by,
Grab yourself a big slice of that wonderful humble pie."
Precious time with Granny sitting right here beside me,
Amazing visions surrounded us as far as you could see.
I did like Granny had instructed and filled up my plate,
I still cannot remember or know how much I really ate.
There is one thing I know I will never be able to forget,
Is that marvelous humble pie and the lasting taste of it.
Granny ever so slowly walked me back to heavens gate,
Saying, "I love you dear, but you know it is getting late."
I took one wistful look around at all the wonder up there,
Everyone so completely peaceful without a single care.
Those times your life seems like it is going a little rough,
And no matter how you try, you still don’t make enough.
Take some time out and go to have lunch in heaven too,
God is never too busy, He always has a place set for you.
