There is a coat many different humans
wear, One which causes us much pain and
despair. A coat of depression has three
different parts, Affecting people's minds,
bodies and hearts.
Not a coat we are
allowed to leave at home, It is always there
wherever we might roam. Going out the door with
a smile on our face, Wanting to enjoy life
and to go some place.
To linger and to
talk for as long as we can, Not to go back
home too quick is the plan. Knowing when we
return through the door, There waiting is the
depression once more.
I also suffer from
this terrible disease and, I find myself constantly
wanting to please. Thoughts of if I am helpful
and smile a lot, You will not notice the
depression I’ve got.
If you watch very
carefully what you eat, A part of the
depression you can defeat. It is something
which can affect all three, Mind, body and
spirit, “Don’t you see?”
Words we can use
without even thinking, Not realizing our
loved ones are sinking. “What’s wrong with
you?” they often hear, Certain foods we may
eat, so this is clear.
Listen to these
words and hear what I say, It could be a
child or you who wants to stay. If anyone
hesitates and doesn’t want to go, Hoping
for someway to let someone know.
This coat of depression we can't give away,
It is always there with us every night
and day.
So please don’t ask "What’s bothering
you?" Unless you are willing to help us get
through.
