So Many Words

So many words dance into my head,
Especially at night when I go to bed.
Like children and very insistent to see,
Each one yelling, “Pick me, pick me.”

I keep saying to them “No, go away,”
But they reply, “Come on, lets play.”
“Please, get up, you have much to say,
No one can express it quite your way.”

“I can't, some of the words are so sad,
All they do is make me feel really bad.”
Not many people are content you know,
And these little words continue to flow.

Here I lay as they dance merrily about,
For me to listen so they finally get out.
Once more saying, “Please, let me be.”
“Don't you see it is a quarter to three?”

But there seems no peace is to be mine,
Until I put down these words of rhyme.
Happy and sad ones, the bad and good,
To convey our feelings as they should.

Keep dancing little words if you must,
This is in God’s hands, in Him I trust.
I believe God is using me to tell a story,
And for doing his work I seek no glory.

Given a gift in heaven to bring to earth,
Sharing so others will know their worth.
I love written words of music and verse,
I consider my gift a blessing, not a curse.

I will continue to write for as long as I can,
People need to know it was part of a plan.
When we start seeing things in a new light,
God will be pleased to see it was done right.
